Test Results of Variance Reduction Techniques Applied to Deep Penetration Problem

Nowadays, there is a problem of lack computer power to conduct high-precision reactor analysis. There are several factors that increase the excessive computational load and make it difficult calculate nuclear full-scale models using Monte Carlo method. Among them large neutron-flux attenuation, which observed in deep penetration problems. Various reduction techniques used efficiency calculations such tasks. It allows reduce statistical uncertainty functional evaluation without increasing number neutron histories. This work devoted study testing variance problem. To demonstrate possibility non-analogue modeling test was formulated. quantify efficacy applying methods, FOM characteristic considered, function relative error flux estimate time simulation. The article considers implemented MCU (Monte Univarsal) OpenMC codes. As part study, module code developed automatically generate weight windows. shown calculation by times, particularly, windows method possible achieve 7-fold estimation with same simulated formulated recommendations can be innovative reactors models.
